The Problem
Most anchors can get stuck on the bottom if the flukes hook under a rock, an old chain, or other debris. Unless you thought ahead and installed a trip line to pull the anchor out backwards, you may not be able to raise the anchor at all, which is then an expensive loss unless you can dive to free it. But a trip line is a hassle to use and can foul the anchor itself.
The Solution
A new device called the AnchorRescue installs on your anchor in minutes and remains there as a permanent solution, ready for use if the anchor snags and will not come up.
This photo shows the top section of part of the device. The slider, the metal tube at the left, installs around the anchor chain near the shackle and is held in position there with light electrical ties. (The free ends, shown here, are then cut off.) The smaller chain welded to the slider, called the tether, leads down the shank of the anchor to the anchor crown (shown in next page).
