Start by going to the NOAA National Data Buoy Center website. Zoom in on the map to find the nearest data buoy, and then click it for a readout of the current information. Click “View Details” for more information, including wind information for the last 24 hours and a link to the current NOAA forecast for this area.
Shown here is the web data from the Boston buoy. Specific information varies among the buoys at different locations.
In addition, many boating apps now import NOAA buoy data into their weather reports, which you can then access on your smart phone or other device. As well, you can create your own app-like smart device link to your own most local weather data.
