After hearing much about the new Lehr propane-powered outboard engines, I finally got the 5 HP model late this summer - and what a joy it has been not to be chained to my smelly old gasoline outboard with its perpetual ethanol problems! Imagine an outboard that always starts on the first or second pull, that never smokes, that doesn't need (or even have) a choke, that doesn't run on fuel that degrades if not used soon enough - and that requires no winterizing. You can run it on an external tank using a hose like any other outboard, or simply screw in a camp-size propane bottle (which you can refill yourself) - and the fuel is even cheaper than gas. Any downside? Read the full review here.
