The Notice of Race has just been published for the 46th Transpac ocean sail race starting in July of 2011. At 2225 nautical miles from Southern California to Hawaii, the Transpac is not only the premiere West Coast sailboat race but also one of the longest-running sail races in the world. Boats from 30 to 100 feet, amateurs and professionals, compete in this exciting, fun race - now with no celestial navigation required! Check the official race site for the NOR or more information. And for a taste of what a recent race was like for 11 young sailors on a fast 52-footer, watch the Disney movie Morning Light.

Or. If you want to really follow the 2007 race you can check out cirrus2007.blogspot.com or buy the book at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/413669

If only Morning Light was a good movie, but it’s little better than (ugh) Wind. YouTube videos of Volvo 70’s are much more exciting.

Hey! We LOVED Morning Light! Left us feeling happy and windblown with a taste of salt around our lips:) To each his own I guess:) I’ve recommended it to everyone.
It’s really more about how LIFE CHANGING something like the TransPac can be, more than a ’sailing’ movie. These kids lives were changed forever by this Opportunity.
