Solar Kayak
Wednesday November 28, 2007
Kayaks and sailboats go together like peanut-butter and jelly. Most boats heading out for a weekend have at least one strapped to the deck for on-the-water fun at anchor.
For those who love the quiet efficiency of a kayak but can do without the exercise of paddling, there is the solar powered kayak. The kit contains a flotation pod which attaches like an outrigger to the kayak. Inside the pod is a deep-cycle battery and on top are several solar panels. An electric outboard provides thrust.
It's not cheap, but it sure looks like fun. The manufacturer's website has more details.
